You can't provide scientific reason for those rules but yet you follow them because from your bottom of brain you know that it will become impossible to play the game without faith in those rules. So sports compelled you to believe faith indirectly. In shaivism and other Indian religion war turned into sports and Mahabharata was the best example of symbolic representation and Hindu GODS like RAM and KRISHNA [ALONG WITH ASHWATHAMA} broke the rules and won battles for their side. It provided authenticity to corruption to Hindu mind and "THE ONE WHO PROTECTS LAKE WILL TASTE THE WATER ILLEGALLY" became norm in Hinduism.
